In this blog post, we will continue our review of SS Original Player cricket bats with the latest collection unboxed and reviewed by Amar Shah. This collection includes four different original-player cricket bats: SS Sky, SS Shimron Hetmyer, SS Tim David, and SS Ton Devon Conway. So, let's dive into the details of each bat and see what makes them unique.
The SS Sky Original Player Cricket Bat 2023 is a full-profile cricket bat with an oval handle. It has a 66mm spine height and bulky edges, which makes it a powerful bat on the field. This bat comes with player stickering and has 12 grains, giving it an amazing ping and performance. Though the bat weighs around 1170 grams, it feels lighter, around 1155 grams, making it easy to wield and control. Amar mentions that the ping and performance of this bat are on par with the SS Super Select cricket bat, which is a testament to its quality.
The SS Shimron Hetmyer Cricket Bat 2023 has an oval handle, and the spine goes all the way down toward the bottom of the bat, just like the Kookaburra Kahuna bat. It weighs only 1155 grams, but it picks up around 1140 grams, making it a lightweight and easy-to-use bat. The mid-sweet spot on this bat makes it ideal for dynamic gameplay. You can play amazing cuts and drives with phenomenal control over the bat’s movement. The bat has an unfinished toe and 8 nice and dark equidistant grains. Amar comments on the phenomenal ping of the bat, which makes it stand out.
SS Ton Tim David Cricket Bat 2023
The SS Tim David Cricket Bat 2023 has a traditional mid to low profile and weighs around 1155 - 1145 grams. Like other bats in this lot, this bat also has a fantastic pickup. It has a round handle and a thick unfinished toe with excellent SS branding on the front face of the bat. The bat has 11- 17 dark grains and a soft ping, making it an excellent choice for batsmen who prefer a soft feel to their bat. Amar mentions that this bat is the best pinging of all the bats reviewed so far. He reviews two Tim David Original Player bats in the video, and both bats are identical apart from their weight and grains count.
The SS Ton Devon Conway Cricket Bat 2023 comes with Ton stickering and has a semi-oval slim handle. It has a clean face with 9 straight grains and is a bit bottom-heavy, weighing around 1180 - 1165 grams. So, Amar recommended adding another grip on the bat’s handle. The bat has a thick bottom and a lot of cleft in the bottom, making it a powerful bat for striking the ball. The bat has a great ping which is a testament to their superior build quality and performance. The bat pings amazingly well at the bottom too. Amar reviews two Devon Conway Original Player bats in the video. They differ slightly in their grain count and weight. This minor difference is because willow from distinct clefts of wood is used in their manufacturing.
