Meet the USA’s men in Barbados

The Carribean Premier League is almost underway. One of the best looking teams is the Barbados Tridents. They have in their ranks one of West Indies best T20 exports in Kieron Pollard as well as the current ODI captain all-rounder Jason Holder. As USA aims to qualify for the T20 World Cup which will be held in India in 2016, some of USA’s finest cricketers will be having the opportunity to rub shoulders and learn from the experience of these great cricketers and off course coaches Robin Singh and Vasbert Drakes.

Japen Patel and Adil Bhatti will be giving us a blow-by-blow and up close encounter with their experiences in the Caribbean.

We introduce to you:

Japen Patel

Japen Patel is a hard hitting batsman with a T20 strike rate that exceeds 120. Japen has been exposed to coaching of the highest order as he has trained under the guidance of Monty Desai of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He has played for the Atlanta Rising Stars in the USA cricket leagues. Japen is a player that proves that hard work and perseverance definitely pay-off as he attempts to help the USA over the line in Ireland. Sensing that there was an opportunity to win a spot in the USA cricket team in 2011, Japen dropped everything, including a successful job and further academics. He was shattered at being left out of the team then but has persevered to show that hard work, no matter your area of life, pays off at the end of the day.

Adil Bhatti

Adil Bhatti has been around the USA cricket squad since 2012. He started playing hard ball cricket in 2006 without any prior coaching or experience and took to the game like Chris Gayle to a waist high full-toss. Growing up, Adil watched limited amount of cricket but was inspired by the grace and skill of Saeed Anwar at the crease. It is the same grace and skill that has now seen Adil been drawn to the playing and humble lifestyle of Hashim Amla. Adil initially started playing for the Bengals in the Washington Cricket Leagues. He later moved on to play for Boyds CC. As is the way of T20 cricketers, Adil spends much of his time traversing the United States as he plays in the various competitions and leagues. Such is Adil’s dedication for USA cricket that he also voluntarily coaches youngsters and adults in his free time.
