Cricket Bat Weight Guide

Cricket Bats are up to 70% prepared in the factory, but none are 100% ready to play when they are bought new. You will need to complete the knocking in process when you receive your new bat.

 

LIGHT : 2lbs9oz and under.

 

MEDIUM : 2lbs10oz to 2lbs12oz.

 

HEAVY : 2lbs13oz and up.

All top coaches agree with suppliers and manufacturers that choosing the correct size bat is vital for the proper technical development of young cricketers. It is important that the bat is not too long and more importantly not too heavy to hinder correct stroke play and good technique.

The weight of a junior bat will depend on whether the bat is English or Kashmir Willow. Kashmir Willow bats tend to be at the heavier end of the scales set out below. The guide below is an estimate based on bats from all our brands.
